PETER KURUVITA TO OPEN ALBA NOOSA

After what seems like decades at Sofital (fomerly Sheraton ) Noosa, Peter Kuruvita will open his new venture, Alba by Kuruvita at Noosa Springs Gold and wellness precinct in December 2021
The space will cter to both short stay and permanent residents, combining a cafe, providore, pizzeria, and relaxed all-day bar offering that evolves into a stylish restaurant and cocktail bar as the day turns to night. The venue also hosts ‘ALBA Chef’s Kitchen’, a creative space for cooking classes, private chefs’ tables, and kitchen studio. Those looking to enjoy Peter’s signature style of quality produce spiced with global flavours, including the famous snapper curry, will not be disappointed.

NEW WINE AUSTRALIA CEO

Wine Australia welcomes the appointment of its new CEO Dr Martin Cole, commencing 15 November 2021. Dr Cole joins Wine Australia from the University of Adelaide, where he is the Head of School, Agriculture, Food and Wine.
Wine Australia Chair Dr Michele Allan said, “We are delighted to welcome Dr Cole as the new CEO, after what’s been a highly competitive recruitment process, and know that he’ll be a great asset to the Australian grape and wine community and our levy payers.
Dr Cole, who takes over from Andreas Clark said, “I am excited to be joining Wine Australia at this critical time. Grape and wine is such an important sector for Australia but faces many challenges and opportunities. Without doubt, excellent collaboration and world best practice innovation will be critical to driving future growth and profitability for our stakeholders”.

MOULD CHEESE MELBOURNE

After a sell out tour, Australia’s favourite cheese festival, MOULD, is coming back to Melbourne in 2021 for an even bigger mozzar-hella good time! MOULD will bring together the best artisan cheese producers from across the country for a day of cheese, wine, masterclasses and more. Alongside the best Australian cheeses, there will also be a full food program featuring dishes from local cheesemongers and to wash down all that delicious cheese, there will be wines, whisky, sake, beer and cider available to purchase.

OKTOBERFEST IN NOVEMBER

Who said Oktoberfest had to happen in October? Never content to blindly follow tradition, Matilda Bay Brewery in Healesville, located in the picturesque Yarra Valley, will host Oktoberfest in the large venue carpark on the weekend of 12-14 November. The brewery team invite you to dust off your lederhosen and join them under their own big top to enjoy steins of Matilda Bay’s beers brewed on-site, days of entertainment and a feast of traditional German food.

BLAKEAWAY BRIGHTON

Caterer Blakes Feast has opened a new premises in the busy shopping strip of Church Street, Brighton, opposite Woolworths. It will become the third Blakeaway premises, joining the existing Glen Iris and Portsea properties.
The site will sell both pick and delivery options of prepared meals, Neds breads, Cobb Lane pastries, snack items and coffee, among a vast range of daily essentials and produce. A further outlet is palnned for Armadale later in the year
